Directions

By train: Terontola or Camucia–Cortona railway stations.
From the stations, Cortona can be reached by taxi or by bus services operated by Tiemme or Autolinee Toscane.
Bus connections are also available from the railway stations of Arezzo and Castiglion Fiorentino.

Free admission every first Sunday of the month

The Archaeological area of Sodo joins the Regione Toscana initiative aimed at promoting and enhancing the archaeological areas and parks of Tuscany. For this reason, from April to October 2026, admission will be free on the first Sunday of the month.

Free-admission Sundays at the Archaeological area of Sodo: 5 April, 3 May, 7 June, 5 July, 2 August, 6 September, 4 October.

The bookshop is located next to the ticket office; it offers publications, museum catalogues, visitor guides, gadgets, and merchandise.

The MAEC provides several audio guides for visiting the Museum, the Archaeological Park, and the Cultural Itineraries through the izi.Travel platform. Cloakroom

Lockers for storing small personal items are available at the ticket office. The service is free of charge, subject to availability.

A baby changing table is available in the restroom on floor -2.

Accessibility

Tactile routes

Along the museum route, tactile reproductions of artifacts preserved at the MAEC and braille maps are available to help visitors orient themselves during the tour. Check the tactile route map or download it in PDF format.

Accessible route

Access to the 2nd floor of the MAEC is possible via an elevator; all the rooms on this floor (rooms 16 to 23 and 26 to 29) are fully accessible. The rooms on the 1st floor (room 15) and the 3rd floor (rooms 24 and 25) are accessible only by stairs.
The rooms on the underground floors -1 and -2 (rooms 1 to 14) are accessible via a mini-lift, with assistance provided by the ticket office staff.

Elevator

An elevator is available for free use between floors 0 and 2.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located on floors -2 and 2. On floor -2 there is also a restroom available for visitors with disabilities.
